Rogers +Labarthe Architects, Houston (January 2008 to Present)

Sole intern in a two architect firm.  Primarily worked on construction documents for a small high-end office building and several custom single family residences.  Also prepared a mixed-use master plan proposal, calculate office space tenant studies, and assist in construction administration.

Asakura-Robinson Company, Houston (Summer 2006, Summer 2007)

Internship with a seven-person landscape architecture and urban design firm.

Worked on all types of drawings from presentation, to schematics, to construction documents.

Acumen Design, Houston (Summer 2005)

Internship with a nine-person design firm with a wide range of services from branding to schematic design. Worked on wide range of projects: signage specs, graphic design, design research, and design studies.

Ron Bogley Architect and Builder, Berkeley (January 2002 to July 2004)

Sole draftsman in a small design-build firm with architect/contractor and two carpenters.

Residential remodels, one and two story additions, and live/work apartment projects.

As builts, schematic and presentation sketches, zoning docs, red lines, details, construction docs

(including detailing many “conventional construction” framing plans).

Chris E. Hecht Design and Landscaping, Oakland (June 2001 to January 2002)

Part of an eight man crew specializing in high-end, hillside, hardscape construction – demolition, hole building, retaining walls, water features, rock cranings, irrigation, soil amendment, patios, etc.

Remodeling a house in Fremont (six weeks over winter and summer breaks, 2000)

Laborer in four man crew, did everything: hauling trash to repainting the cabinets.

Gary Kohlsaat, Architect, Los Gatos (summer 1997 and summer 1998)

Assistant, draftsman, computer guy in small high-end residential office.

 

Activities

 

Assistant to Ball-Nogues’ Rip Curl Canyon installation in Rice Gallery (Summer 2006)

Volunteered as a Houston contact for LA firm, located donors and helped build the art installation.

Summer Teacher, Harris County School District (Summer 2005)

A part-time job introducing architecture to elementary school children in three schools.

Editor-in-Chief, Process, Journal of Student Work (academic year 2000-2001)

Recruited staff, procured funds, collected bids and worked with the printers.

Oversaw all aspects of the process from collecting images to layouts to final copy editing.

Finished the job on time and on budget.

President, College of Environmental Design Student Council (academic year 1999-2000)

Managed funds, networked student groups in the college.

Editor, Process, Journal of Student Work (academic year 1998-1999)

Helped start the journal with minimal faculty support. Prepared files, edited text and graphics.

 

Skills

 

Computers: Skilled in AutoCAD, VectorWorks, and Adobe CS3. Some familiarity with Rhino and SketchUp.

Other Medias: Skilled in hand drafting. Extensive experimentation in art: flatwork (drawing, painting, collage), sculpture (stone carving, ceramics), and 4D work (video, installation, performance art).
